Review

Citroen C5 (01 - 08)

It has been around since 2001 and had a facelift in 2005 to give it a sleeker, more upmarket look. Citroen showed they were building some excellent, upmarket cars with this. It is extremely comfortable, good to drive and doesn’t cost a fortune to keep on the road. Even some of the body parts are quite inexpensive to replace. There’s plenty of passenger room in the cabin and storage room in the boot so it’s a practical car across the board. To drive, the ride quality is smooth, the suspension copes well on uneven surfaces but the steering can be a bit vague. This isn’t a deal breaker though, as the genuine comfort of the car shines through.

Look out for

•  There have been reports of the door locks ceasing to work; check they are in working order

What we like

•  It feels quite supple and smooth on the move
•  Plenty of passenger room in the cabin
•  Lots of space in the boot. Can carry some large items
•  Interior is refined and comfortable
•  It doesn’t cost a fortune to buy or keep on the road

What we don't like

•  The steering feels a bit on the vague side
