Review
Fiat Doblo (01 - 10)
Great workhorse that Irish families and businesses like for its practicality. This van-based car version has a sliding rear door, big boot, spacious interior and (as of 2004) the option of seven seats. What sets it apart from its rivals is that it looks slightly boxier and bigger than the Berlingo and better than the Kangoo in terms of style and standard kit. It might not be the most exciting or rewarding drive but it handles pretty well for the most part. There are four engines: the 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and the 1.9. The smaller engines are good in terms of efficiency and emissions. In 2002 some new engines were introduced with higher brake horse power, torque and better fuel economy.

• Check work was done on the accelerator pedal and drivers airbag
What we like
• The cabin is practical and has acres of space
• Available with seven seats
• The rear sliding doors are excellent for accessibility
• Ride quality is decent. Feels supple on the move
• The Doblo handles well
• Easy to drive and great visibility
• It is well equipped in terms of standard kit
What we don't like
• Some of the interior trims and plastics feel cheap
• The smaller engines are disappointing
