Review
Kia Niro (16 - present)
Kia’s latest model manages to combine both Hybrid and crossover appeal – and the result is a good-looking and practical family car, that's also cheap to run. Smaller then the Sportage, but bigger than the cee’d – it’s an interesting new addition to the line-up, and comes with the benefit of an automatic transmission by default. The 1.6 l GDI petrol engine works in conjunction with an electric motor that lets you save fuel on shorter journeys and stop/start city driving. It’s impressively specced and comes with a top of the range infotainment system as standard, as well as other luxuries such as SatNav and heated seats. Topped off by that incredible seven year warranty – we reckon Kia could be on to a winner here.
Look out for
- Nothing to report so far
What we like
- It’s a subtle, non-shouty way to go greener
- Impressive running costs and low CO2 emissions
- Relaxing Hybrid drive and effortless auto transmission
- Very well specced for the price
- Sat Nav is one of best in class for ease of use
What we don't like
- It’s unlikely to reach the claimed MPG figures for the average driver
