Citroen C4 (10 - present)

The latest version of the C4 shows how well Citroen have done in terms of making their cars and fitting and kitting them out. It is nicely designed inside and has some really fine engines. Standard kit is plentiful. There are some nifty gadgets on the dash and console (you can change the colour of the display lights on the dash, or choose a different sound for your indicator). On the road, the C4’s performance is still typically Citroen. The suspension does a great job in cushioning lumps and bumps on the road. It handles well and definitely performs at its best on bigger roads where the steering seems really well weighted.

Look out for

•  Make sure there are no underlying problems; check service history

What we like

•  The looks and quality are now excellent
•  Now using Start/Stop technology
•  There’s plenty of standard kit and safety features
•  Little or no noise from outside the cabin

What we don't like

•  Not quite as exciting to drive as some of its rivals
