All-new 5008 SUV Presents a Whole New Dimension to Peugeot

An all-new Peugeot 5008 will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show this month. A departure from its former traditional MPV body shape, the new 5008 breaks new ground as a large 7-seater SUV to meet consumer demand in an emerging segment. The new 5008 SUV will launch in Europe next spring, hot on the heels of the new Peugeot 2008 SUV, a huge commercial success since its launch this summer, and the much-anticipated new 3008 SUV, due at the end of 2016.

The new Peugeot 5008 SUV aims to build on the strong commercial success of the existing Peugeot 5008 MPV, the best-selling compact 7-seater MPV in Ireland in 2016. Three clear objectives have been set: to pursue the brand’s move up-market strategy, to be an international success and to become the benchmark in the large seven-seater SUV C Segment, a segment that is still developing, with real demand and a lot of potential.

The all-new Peugeot 5008 has all the hallmarks of an SUV: long, horizontal bonnet; vertical face; raised body line. A wide grille, at the centre of which stands the Brand’s Lion, feline headlamps and distinctive front bumper exude power, strength and assertiveness. The gloss black strip along the bottom of the rear window sets the latest breed of Peugeot SUVs apart. Signature LED claw effect rear lights clearly identify it as a Peugeot vehicle, whilst an extra-wide tailgate and low boot sill hint at just how spacious and practical this car is.

Lower, more spacious and less bulky than its competitors, it retains the same height as before of 1.64m, with roof bars standard on all models. An increased length to 4.64m (+11cm) and increased width (+11cm) over the previous 5008 MPV model, ensure there is more room for occupants; secondrow passengers now enjoy 6cm more knee room.

Despite its larger size, it offers astonishing levels of agility. Weighing 95 kg less than the original 5008, the vehicle’s aerodynamic design and optimized external dimensions give it one of the lowest drag areas in the segment at 0.76 m2. Ultra-low resistance 17", 18", or Michelin slimline 19" (205 55 R19) tyres further accentuate the overall performance.

The new 5008 SUV houses an innovative configuration with 3 matching, separate, folding and tilting seats in the second row and 2 removable, separate, folding seats in the third row. Each seat in the second row features three-point Isofix child seat anchor points. Controls on the top of the second-row side-seat backs facilitate easy access to the third-row seats. In just one movement, the second-row side seats tilt and slide forward.

The third row seats are easily removable, thanks to a single control. This makes for a huge boot capacity, the biggest in the category, with up to 780 dm3 (1,060 litres) in 5-seat configuration, 100 dm3 larger than the original 5008. Its flat, uncluttered volume and low boot sill (676 mm), together with a foldable front passenger seat, allow the all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV to carry especially long loads of up to 3.20m.

A practical hands-free smart electric tailgate, standard on the GT version, opens and closes quickly and effortlessly when activated, simply by placing your foot under the rear bumper.

The spacious, functional, modular, practical and cleverly designed interior of the new 5008 SUV meets all the challenges of daily lives. Sockets, boot cover, blinds, aeroplane trays on the back of the first row seats, hooks, cup holders and 38 litres of storage spaces distributed throughout the passenger compartment, ensure a much more practical on-board experience.

Behind an elegant, dynamic design lies a practical vehicle, boasting many strengths. A high quality build and finish is delivered, thanks to Peugeot’s efficient modular production platform 2 (EMP2). A range of powerful and efficient petrol and diesel engines and a robust line-up to include upmarket GT Line and GT versions, are matched to a plethora of high-tech features, including the latest version of the Peugeot i-Cockpit®, to offer optimum driving performance, comfort and safety.

Inside, the latest version of the innovative Peugeot i-Cockpit®, offers a compact steering wheel, an 8” touchscreen, and a spectacular 12.3” high-resolution digital head-up instrument panel with eye pleasing graphics that they can customise. Seven central satin chrome dashboard switches give quick access to the main passenger comfort and safety functions. GT Line and GT versions also feature iCockpit® Amplify that adjusts the screen colour and cabin lighting, offers musical ambience settings, multi-point massage seats and a fragrance diffuser. Two environments are predefined: Boost, in tune with a dynamic driving style, and Relax, for a mellower ambience. A large panoramic opening glass sunroof, standard on GT versions, bathes the interior in light, and gives occupants a pleasant feeling of just how spacious and accommodating the vehicle is on the inside.

Cutting-edge Advanced Driver Assistance Systems make driving even safer, with an arsenal of safety features available: a Safety pack, including Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS) and Distance Alert systems; Active Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA); Driver attention warning; Smart Beam Assistance; Speed sign recognition and speed suggestion; Adaptive cruise control with stop feature; Active blind spot monitoring; Park Assist; Visio Park (360° vision); Advanced Grip Control, including new Hill Assist Descent Control (HADC). Functions like the Mirror Screen and 3D connected navigation fulfil the driver’s need to remain connected while behind the steering wheel and stay on course without stress.

As access to city centres proves increasingly challenging, Peugeot is providing innovative mobility solutions for today’s world. When unveiling the new 3008 SUV in May, it turned heads with the simultaneous release of the e-Kick, a smart electrically assisted folding scooter. The release of the allnew 5008 SUV coincides with that of the e-Bike eF01, a new electrically assisted portable bicycle with an ultra-modern design. Just like the e-Kick, the e-Bike eF01 has a dock-station located in the boot of the new 5008 SUV.

Prices and specifications for the new 5008 SUV will be announced closer to launch.
